Multiplier Event for Mirandese within the OWL+ project

On Thursday 11 April, the representatives of the Mirandese language (spoken in the northeast of Portugal) within the Erasmus+ project OWL+ organised a Multiplier Event in Miranda do Douro, Portugal. Several teachers, groups of students and other stakeholders gathered in the library of the local high school. There, they were able to exchange their experiences and learn more about what the situation is like for other minority languages across Europe, thanks to the OWL+ partners that were present as well.

As there is a strong bond between the Mirandese community and that of Asturian, a minority language in the north of Spain (partly bordering Portugal), a teacher and students from that region were also present, sharing more about their language and its history. The attendees were very engaged and eager to join the conversation, so the event can be deemed as successful! New connections were made and the conversation about revitalizing and maintaining minority languages (and their cultures) continued outside of the event itself.
