Submit your MA thesis for the Fryske Akademy Thesis Prize and win €1,000!

Every two years, the Fryske Akademy awards a prize for the best master’s thesis in the field of the Frisian language and culture. The award consists of a cash prize of 1,000 (one thousand) euros.

The Skripsjepriis was established in 1988 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Fryske Akademy, with the aim of encouraging students in higher education to focus their research on Frisian topics. 

Call: Skripsjepriis 2024-2026

University students can submit their Master's thesis for the Skripsjepriis until 1 June 2026. A few conditions are attached to submission:

- The subject of the thesis should be in the field of Frisian studies, such as Frisian linguistics and literature, history, or social sciences.
- The thesis must be written (and approved) after 1 June 2024 and before 1 June 2026.|
- Only university-level Master's theses can qualify for the Skripsjepriis.

Theses that meet our conditions can be submitted until 1 June 2026. We prefer to receive a digital copy (pdf document). Please mail your thesis to the commission.

A scientific jury consisting of Akademy staff members will assess the papers. The decision of the jury is final, correspondence about the result is not possible and the submitted copy of the thesis will not be returned.

Award ceremony Skripsjepriis

The Skripsjepriis for the academic years 2024-2026 will be awarded on the Akademy Day, on Friday afternoon, the 11th of September 2026.
