Jelske Dijkstra, PLURILINGMEDIA AI-Committee, Valletta (MT) (closed session)

Language Plurality in Europe’s Changing Media Sphere (PLURILINGMEDIA) is an interdisciplinary research network funded by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Association. Mercator's Jelske Dijkstra will lead the special ad hoc AI committee for PLURILINGMEDIA on 5-6 October 2026.

PLURILINGMEDIA

PLURILINGMEDIA promotes research into media in regional and minority languages. The network has four working groups, each with a different focus. Working group 1 deals with “Media habits of the public and creators”, working group 2 has “Legislation and standards” as its theme, the third working group works on “Language vitality”, and the fourth has “Journalism” as its subject. On behalf of the Mercator European Research Centre for Multilingualism and Language Learning, part of the Fryske Akademy, Jelske Dijkstra and Ydwine Scarse are involved in PLURILINGMEDIA working groups 2 and 3.

The PLURILINGMEDIA AI committee will examine the role of AI within each of the working groups' areas of focus and formulate recommendations in the coming period.
