Vacancy: student assistant at the Frisian Linguistics Network, 3 hours a week

The Fryske Akademy is looking for a student volunteer to help organise the Day of Frisian Linguistics, other activities organised by the Frisian Linguistic Network, and the editorial work for ‘Frisistyk’. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in organising academic events and communicating academic research, whilst at the same time learning more about Frisian linguistics.

We are looking for an enthusiastic student who would like to get involved in academic activities and has an interest in the Frisian language and linguistics.

Who are you? You…

• are a university student (undergraduate or postgraduate);
• have an interest in the Frisian language and linguistics;
• enjoy organising and working with others;
• can work independently and reliably;
• are available for approximately three hours a week;
• have excellent communication skills (spoken and written) in Frisian, Dutch and English.

What do we offer?

• A varied voluntary role within the Fryske Akademy.
• The opportunity to gain experience in an academic organisation and in the field of science communication.
• The chance to meet researchers and others involved with the Frisian language.
• Flexibility in how you spread your hours across the academic year.
• A volunteer allowance in accordance with the applicable tax regulations (currently a maximum of €220 per month, up to €2,200 per year).

The position is for one academic year. In principle, the role will end at the end of the academic year. It will then be re-advertised, so that other students also have the chance to gain experience within the Fryske Akademy.
