Call for Papers for the Conference on Frisian Linguistics

The 14th Conference on Frisian Linguistics will be held at the Fryske Akademy on Friday 11 December 2026. The event is open to anyone who is directly or indirectly involved in the linguistics of the Frisian language.

The organisation of this Linguistics Day is in the hands of Anne Merkuur, Fenna Bergsma and Martijn Kingma (Linguistics Working Group) of the Fryske Akademy. They welcome proposals that focus on the Frisian language from all the various fields of linguistics. These include: grammar, phonetics/phonology, onomastics, lexicography, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics and historical linguistics.

From students to lecturers: everyone is welcome as a speaker at Linguistics Day. Presentations may report on academic research, but presentations of research plans, speculations or language databases are also welcome.

Each talk is allocated half an hour (20 minutes for the talk, 10 minutes for questions). Talks may be delivered in any language belonging to the West Germanic language family. Please submit – as soon as possible, but no later than 15 October – an abstract of one full A4 page, including your name and affiliation, by email to the organisers.

Free of charge

Participation is free of charge for both speakers and attendees. Coffee and tea will be provided. Those attending both the morning and afternoon sessions will be offered a light lunch.

The registration form is already available online. Please visit the Taalkundedei-webside for more information.
