WikiWomen: Frisian teachers participate in Wikipedia Bootcamp in the Basque Country

In the light of the Erasmus+ project WikiWomen, in which Mercator/ Fryske Akademy is one of the partners, a group of Frisian teachers and teacher supervisors will soon be leaving for a study week in the Spanish Basque city of San Sebastian (Donostia). From 26 June to 1 July, they will participate - together with teachers from Ireland and the Basque Country - in a Wikipedia bootcamp. There they will learn the skills and confidence to support their pupils (aged 15-18) at home in their (digital) writing skills, which the pupils can then use themselves in the course of the project. In the spring of 2023, these young people will be able to attend a Wikipedia bootcamp in Ireland.

The study week in San Sebastian (Donostia) also enables us as a project partner to gain valuable insights, feedback and input for the development of the Toolkit for schools and cultural institutions as a project result. Other partners in the project are Algemiene Fryske Ûnderrjocht Kommisje (AFÛK) (NL), Learning Hub Friesland (NL), Wikimedia Ireland (IE), Coláiste Oiriall (IE), Euskal Wikilarien Kultura (ES), Antigua-Luberri institute/ Gobierno Vasco (ES).
