Researcher Scarse in Bilbao for PLURILINGMEDIA

Ydwine Scarse, research assistant at the Mercator European Research Centre on Multilingualism and Language Learning (part of the Fryske Akademy), will attend a meeting of the PLURLINGMEDIA project in Bilbo/Bilbao, the Basque Country, on 3-4 September

PLURILINGMEDIA is a European project (COST Action) that brings together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to strengthen and promote research on media in European regional and minority languages. PLURILINGMEDIA aims to bridge the gap between academia and media practice, encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue and the sharing of knowledge.

Working groups

Mercator has been asked to participate in two of the project's four international working groups: 'Legislation and Standards' and 'Language Vitality'.

A group of thirteen European researchers and experts from the working group focusing on how laws and standards impact minority and regional languages ​​in the media will meet in Bilbao. They will also visit EiTB, the Basque broadcaster.

Konferinsje

The first PLURILINGMEDIA conference, on the theme of "Media and Language Vitality" (Language Vitality Working Group), will be held on December 4th and 5th in Warsaw, Poland.
