Fryske Akademy and Mercator interviewed for Podcast Challenge by MICA students

Employees of the Fryske Akademy and Mercator were interviewed by students from the Media Innovation Campus (MICA) in Leeuwarden in June for Studium Generale Leeuwarden's Podcast Challenge.

Students from the Netherlands and foreign exchange students participating in the Podcast Challenge of Studium Generale Leeuwarden could choose from several current and interesting topics for their podcast.

Martine Jansen, research assistant at the Mercator European Research Centre of the Fryske Akademy, was questioned by the students about the Frisian language and other European minority languages. She also talked about the importance of doing research on minority languages and why Mercator believes it is important to promote language diversity in Europe.

Historian Mark Raat of the Fryske Akademy was interviewed by another group of students about the peatland and landscape history. He explained why historical landscape research is important to policymakers.

The students' podcasts will be judged June 27 by a jury from Studium Generale Leeuwarden, NHL Stenden and Tresoar.
