Meeting: NPLD General Assembly meeting in Leeuwarden

June 4-6 2014 - The Network to Promote Linguistic Diversity (NPLD), chaired by the Frisian Commissioner for Culture Jannewietske de Vries, held its annual General Assembly Meeting in Leeuwarden (the Netherlands).

This year, three new members joined the NPLD network. The Italian provinces of Friuli Venezia Giulia (home to the Friulian language) and Trento (home to the languages Ladin, Mócheno and Cimbrian) joined as full members, and the Gaelic research network Soillse joined as a new associate member from Scotland. Friuli is represented by ARLeF, the Regional Agency for the Friulian language.

The goal of the NPLD is to address the importance of linguistic diversity at the European level. The Mercator Research Centre is also a member of the NPLD network.
