Dr. Nives Zudič Antonič is Head of Department of Italian Studies at the Faculty of Humanities Koper, University of Primorska, Slovenia, where she lectures in Italian literature, literature and film, and literature and theatre. In addition to her pedagogical work, she participates in the drafting of new study and professional development programmes and courses. As a researcher at the Science and Research Centre of University of Primorska she researches Italian literature, intercultural communication and literature teaching methodology, with the emphasis on examining contemporary teaching methods, developing teaching strategies and encouraging motivation in learning about, examining and interpreting literary text. She participates in and coordinates work at national and international project aimed at promoting minority Languages and teacher training in multilingual environments. She has been awarded the National Linguistic Award for high achievement in the field of learning and teaching languages. She has published articles in Slovenian and international journals and has co-authored course material for teaching intercultural communication in teaching Italian at university level, and interactive material for early learning of languages.
She regularly organises seminars and training for teachers of Italian as a first and second language, and participates in the organisation of international scientific symposia, where she also gives lectures. She id head of Secondary School-leaving Certificate Examination Board for Italian, a member of Vocational Secondary School-leaving Certificate Examination Board for Italian as Mother Tongue and head of the Testing Team for Italian in Primary School.
