Comparative education and minority languages

This project aimed to facilitate the comparison of minority schooling in the European Union. Use was made of data collected by Mercator-Education as well as other (bibliographical) sources.

All projects of Mercator-Education required a comparative, cross-regional (and cross-national) approach. The study at hand provides an overview of comparative education as an academic field that informs teaching practice as well as international, national and regional educational policy. It attempts to contribute to the development of an explanatory theory of the position of lesser used languages in European educational systems.

The project was carried out in 1993-1995.
