- The brochure European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages has been translated to Dutch and Frisian, on the occasion of the Partnership for Diversity conference (30-31 October 2009 in Leeuwarden). The Mercator Research Centre has assisted in this. The Charter, which came into effect in 1998, includes linguistic and human rights. The 24 countries of the Council of Europe who have ratified the Charter, agree to do their best to protect and encourage languages that risk to be marginalised in the countries where they traditionally belong.

- Languages and Language education in Fryslân. The role and position in the province of Fryslân and Frisian education. This monograph is one of the outcomes of the research project on the topic of the “Added value of multilingualism and multilingual education” as part of the agreement between the Government of the Basque Autonomous Community (Department of Education, Universities and Research) and the Fryske Akademy. Rynke Douwes and Barbara Lotti from the Mercator European Research Centre on Multilingualism and Language Learning drafted the first version of this report. Later Rynke Douwes and Marieke Hanenburg gave this report its final shape. The monograph consists of three parts. The first part describes the history and position of the Frisian language. The second part depicts the general educational context in the Netherlands and Fryslân. The last part describes the multilingual situation in Frisian education.

- Frisian and Basque Multilingual Education: A Comparison of the Province of Fryslân and the Basque Autonomous Communicty. This comparative report is one of the outcomes of a collaborative effort between researchers at the Mercator European Research Centre on Multilingualism and Language Learning and researchers at the Faculty of Education of the University of the Basque Country. It has been produced as part of a project on the topic of the “Added value of multilingualism and diversity in educational contexts” as part of the agreements between the Government of the Basque Autonomous Community (Department of Education, Universities and Research) and the Fryske Akademy.

- The Study on the Devolvement of Legislative Power & Provisions is a comparative analysis of eight EU regions with a Regional or Minority Language, including the Frisian region. The presentations are based on the answers each country has given to six questions. The findings of these questions are summarised in a synoptic table which provides a comparative analysis in a glance. The conclusions of the study are also presented in the report.
